Drug Bust in Shopian: Police Seize 4.34 Kg Charas, Peddler Held Under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan

Shopian, Apr 21 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Shopian Police arrested one drug peddler and 4.340Kgs of charas-like substance recovered from his possession.

During routine naka checking at Manihal Crossing Imamsahib, a police party from Police Station Imamsahib observed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him.

Upon search, a 4.340Kgs of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Gowhar Ahmad Wani a resident of DK Pora. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 24/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved.

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and urges the general public to cooperate in this noble mission. Citizens are requested to share any information related to drug abuse or drug peddling on the helpline number 9596768831 (PCR Shopian). The identity of informers will be kept strictly confidential.
