Awantipora Police Bust Drug Cache, 340g Charas Seized from Reshipora House

Awantipora, Apr 17 (JKNS): Continuing its intensified crackdown under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Awantipora Police achieved a significant breakthrough after recovering a substantial quantity of charas from a residential house in Reshipora and apprehending the accused involved in the illegal trade.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, Continuing its drive against drug peddlers under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Awantipora Police acted on reliable information regarding illegal possession of narcotic substances by an individual. The search was conducted under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora Inspector Ajaz Hmad.

The accused has been identified as Haroon Rasheed Bhat @ Aaqib, S/o Ab Rasheed Bhat, R/o Renzipora, Reshipora.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 90/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, a search was conducted at the residential house of the accused, during which approximately 340 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered from within the premises. Further investigation in the case is underway.

Awantipora Police remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society and urges the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling. (JKNS)
