Shopian, Apr 15 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained campaign against drug abuse under Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 120 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.

As per news agency JKNS, During routine naka checking at Ringward road, a police party from Police Station Keller noticed a person under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. During the search, a charas-like substance weighing approximately 120 grams was recovered from his possession.

The individual disclosed his identity as Zakir Hussain Awan, a resident of Pehlipora Dunadoo Keller.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 33/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Keller and further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved.

Shopian Police reiterated its firm commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and urged the general public to cooperate in this mission.

Citizens have been requested to share any information related to drug abuse or peddling on the helpline number 9596768831 (PCR Shopian), with assurance that the identity of the informer will be kept strictly confidential. (JKNS)
