Officials also appealed to the public and tourists to maintain cleanliness while visiting natural and tourist destinations and to strictly adhere to guidelines aimed at preserving ecological balance.

During the drive, approximately 250 saplings were planted as part of the department’s ongoing afforestation campaign. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to increasing green cover, preventing soil erosion, and promoting biodiversity in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Range Officer Javid Hassan highlighted the importance of plantation drives in addressing challenges such as environmental pollution and climate change. He emphasized that such initiatives are essential for maintaining ecological balance and ensuring a safer future. He also encouraged the younger generation to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts, appreciating the involvement of students and describing them as ambassadors of environmental awareness.

A participating student expressed happiness and pride in being part of the drive, stating that the activity helped raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources and safeguarding the environment for future generations.

The Principal of Foundation World School, Humhama, also appreciated the initiative, noting that such practical activities instill a sense of responsibility among students and provide valuable experiential learning alongside academic education.

An officer from Soil Range Tangmarg urged students to actively take part in the Forest Department’s plantation programmes so they can become future green ambassadors. He also thanked the school staff, local residents, and department personnel for their cooperation in making the programme a success.

Local residents lauded the consistent efforts of the Forest Department, recognising its valuable role in promoting greenery and environmental sustainability in the region.

At the conclusion of the event, all participants pledged to ensure the protection and proper care of the planted saplings to help create a greener, cleaner, and healthier environment for future generations. (JKNS)
