According to details available with news agency JKNS, several Sangnis have expressed anguish over being sidelined despite years of dedicated service and eligibility, alleging irregularities in the ongoing promotion process.

They claimed that certain “blue-eyed” candidates, whose eligibility and academic qualifications are reportedly under question, are being considered for promotion, raising concerns about fairness and merit in the system.

The aggrieved Sangnis said that such practices not only violate principles of transparency but also demoralize grassroots workers who have been serving the community with commitment and dedication.

Highlighting their role, they stated that Sangnis form the backbone of the ICDS system, working for the welfare of women and children across the region, and ignoring their rightful claims undermines the credibility of the department.

They have demanded an immediate halt to any promotion process where eligibility criteria are under question and called for a fair, transparent and merit-based verification of all candidates included in the promotion list.

The Sangnis also sought strict adherence to government norms and guidelines, along with an independent inquiry into the alleged irregularities to ensure justice for deserving candidates.

They warned that failure to take timely corrective measures could erode trust among field functionaries and impact the functioning of ICDS in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Merit must prevail, and justice must be ensured. Promotions should be carried out strictly on the basis of eligibility and seniority in letter and spirit,” they said. (JKNS)
