Nallah Batamoji, which flows down from the Shamsabari mountain range through Tangdar and eventually merges with the Qazi Nagh near Surmapari, has long posed a challenge for local residents due to the lack of a permanent crossing.

The demand for a permanent bridge was strongly raised a few months ago by Civil Society Chairman Peerzada Siraj-ud-Din, who personally visited the Brigade headquarters and highlighted the urgent need for infrastructure at the site. Responding swiftly, the Army deputed an engineering team to inspect the ground conditions, following which construction work was initiated.

Remarkably, the bridge was completed in a short span, and its inauguration comes just days before the transfer of Brigadier S.K. Pardhan, marking a meaningful contribution during his tenure.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed participation from both the Indian Army and civil society representatives. The bridge was jointly inaugurated from both ends, with Civil Society Karnah Chairman S.D. Qureshi leading from one side, while Joginder Singh Inqalabi inaugurated it from the other.

It is worth noting that prior to this, a temporary bridge had been constructed by the Indian Army before 2014, which was later damaged by floods. After a gap of nearly 12 years, the construction of this new permanent bridge has brought immense relief and joy to the local population.

This project stands as a testament to the strong coordination and mutual trust between the Civil Society Karnah and the Indian Army, particularly the 104 Shakti Vijay Brigade.

The bridge will connect War Mohalla Kandi Balla and surrounding areas, significantly improving accessibility for residents. The route also holds historical and educational importance, as many prominent personalities, including retired Session Judge Gh. Nabi from Gabra, noted poet and scholar Abdul Rashid Qureshi, and Abdul Rashid Lone from Khawarpara, used this path during their time as students at Higher Secondary School Kandi.

The inauguration of this bridge not only strengthens infrastructure but also symbolizes unity, cooperation, and development in the Karnah region.(JKNS)
