Kokernag SDM Issues Weather Advisory, Restricts Vehicular Movement on Sinthan, Margan Routes

Weather office issues advisory in view of forecast from Feb 29 to Mar 03

Kokernag, Apr 3 (JKNS): The Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has issued a weather advisory following forecasts of snowfall and rain in the upper reaches, warning of slippery roads, landslides, and shooting stones at Sinthan Top and Margan Top.

Reduced visibility may make vehicular movement risky and prone to accidents, reads the advisory issued by SDM Kokernag as per news agency JKNS.

Vehicular movement towards Daksum-Sinthan Top and Gawran-Margan Top will remain restricted from April 3, 2026, until further orders. Travelers are advised to carry proper safety gear, including snow skid chains, and adhere to instructions from the SDM and Deputy Commissioner Anantnag offices. Heavy vehicles and non-essential travel are prohibited on these routes until weather conditions improve.

For any emergencies or updates on route clearance, the public can contact the designated control room officials, including: Er. Ashiq Ahmad (PMGSY, 7006121583), Er. Tanveer Ahmad (NHIDCL, 7889734223), SI Arshid Ahmad (Police, 7006613287), and Tehsil Office Larnoo official Tariq Ahmad Beig (9906517999).

The advisory will remain in force in the interest of public safety until further notice. (JKNS)
