Shopian, Mar 16 (JKNS): Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone on Monday convened a meeting of district officers to review preparedness and arrangements for upcoming religious festivals.

All departments including PHE, PDD, Health, MC, Police, Food Safety, Legal Meterlogy, Revenue, Fisheries and others were directed to ensure proper and adequate arrangements at prominent religious places in the district for the smooth and hassle free observance of the forthcoming religious occasions of Shab e Qadr, Navratri and Eid ul Fitr.

During the meeting, the ADDC called upon the concerned departments to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities and other facilities including medical, sanitation, traffic security, electricity, water, availability of fish and other arrangements are being put in place in prominent religious places across the district for the public convenience.

It was informed that sufficient stocks are available; however, directions were issued to keep strict monitoring to avoid any shortage or inconvenience to the public.

Market checking teams were instructed to conduct rigorous market inspections and ensure sale of quality food items, maintainance of hygiene and prevent hoarding and black-marketing. Special emphasis was laid on maintaining daily checking teams at important locations.

The ADDC emphasized that all necessary steps must be taken to facilitate the minority community and ensure that essential food items are easily available during the auspicious occasion of Navratri.

The meeting was attended by ADC Shopian, Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz, Tehsildars, district officers and other concerned. (JKNS)
