Anantnag, Mar 15 (JKNS): Several vehicles were reportedly trapped near Sinthan Top on National Highway 244 after heavy snowfall disrupted traffic movement in the high-altitude area on Sunday, officials said.

Reports reaching news agency JKNS said, a number of passenger vehicles travelling between Kishtwar and Anantnag got stranded near Sinthan Top after fresh snowfall led to slippery road conditions and accumulation of snow on the highway.

Some passengers stuck in the vehicles have reportedly started calling for help as the weather conditions in the area remained harsh and visibility was reduced due to continuous snowfall.

Officials advised people travelling on the route to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement towards the pass until weather conditions improve.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Larnoo told news agency JKNS that a rescue team has been rushed towards Sinthan Pass to assist the stranded passengers and assess the situation. (JKNS)
