Kulgam, Mar 11 (JKNS): A fire incident caused heavy damage to a joinery mill and its machinery in Kanjikulla area of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday evening.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the blaze broke out in a wooden joinery unit where specialized woodworking machines used for molding and precision cutting were installed.

Police and Fire & Emergency Services rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched efforts to bring the blaze under control.

In the incident, joinery mill machines and a diesel motor were extensively damaged, resulting in significant losses to the owner.

Preliminary estimates suggest the damage to property and machinery could be around ₹15 to ₹20 lakh, while the cause of the fire was not immediately known. Authorities are assessing the losses. (JKNS)
