Srinagar, Mar 9 (JKNS): A sense of joy and renewed energy returned to school campuses across the Kashmir Valley on Monday as educational institutions resumed classwork after remaining closed for over three months due to the winter break, bringing students back to classrooms and restoring normal academic activity across the region.

Senior secondary schools remained closed and classwork at the elementary level had also been suspended earlier as a precautionary measure amid tensions in the Middle East, which had led authorities to delay the reopening of institutions, as per details available with news agency JKNS.

Elementary level classes were initially scheduled to reopen on March 2, but the government later ordered the closure of educational institutions across Kashmir following protests that erupted after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The reopening of schools brought a sense of joy and relief among students, parents and teachers, as classrooms once again witnessed lively interactions after a prolonged break. Many students expressed excitement about reuniting with their classmates and resuming regular academic activities.

School campuses across the Valley saw renewed energy and activity, with morning assemblies, classroom discussions and co-curricular activities returning to normal.

Teachers said the resumption of classes will help students regain academic momentum and restore routine learning after the extended closure.

Earlier, Education Minister Sakina Itoo had said that the decision to reopen institutions was taken after assessing the ground situation.

The minister had announced that all educational institutions would resume functioning from Monday, March 9, 2026, allowing students to return to their studies after the extended break. (JKNS)
