Notably, in the early 1990s, he was associated with Al-Safa, the largest-circulated Urdu newspaper of its time, and eventually launched his own publication, Nidai Mushriq, reads the statement issued by the spokesperson.

Mr. Abdul Rashid Sahib passed away on Friday evening after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his son Haroon Rashid and daughter at his residence at Bagh-e-Mahtab in Srinagar.

The executive members of the Press Club of Kashmir fondly remembered Mr Abdul Rashid’s dedicated service to the Jammu and Kashmir Information Department and his prolific work as a writer, both during and after his tenure at the department.

Throughout his career as an editor of various Urdu newspapers, he bravely faced several threats. He was part of the delegation of the former right-wing BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2001 to Iran.

The members of the Press Club of Kashmir prayed for the departed soul and offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, wishing them strength to bear this irreparable loss. May Allah grant the deceased, Abdul Rashid, a place in Jannat and bestow peace upon his soul. (JKNS)
