Joint Market Inspection Conducted in Larnoo; ₹5,300 Fine Imposed on Erring Shopkeepers

Anantnag, Feb 24 (JKNS): A joint market inspection was carried out in Village Larnoo area of Anantnag district on Tuesday by a team comprising officials from the Revenue Department, Police Department, and the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department.

The inspection drive was headed by the Naib Tehsildar Larnoo and aimed at ensuring adherence to consumer protection norms and checking the sale of expired and substandard items in the local market, as per news agency JKNS.

During the course of checking, several violations were detected and a cumulative fine of ₹5,300 was imposed on erring shopkeepers. Officials said all expired food items found during the inspection were confiscated and later destroyed by disposing of them in a designated pit as per the prescribed procedure.

Authorities reiterated that such inspection drives will continue in the future to safeguard consumer interests and ensure strict compliance with regulatory norms. (JKNS)
