Srinagar, Feb 20 (JKNS): Security forces on Thursday night detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Janbazpora area of Baramulla district, averting a potential tragedy.
A senior police official told news agency JKNS that the suspicious object was noticed during routine surveillance, following which the area was immediately secured.
“An IED was detected at Janbazpora in Baramulla. A bomb disposal squad was promptly rushed to the spot and the device was safely defused without causing any damage or injuries,” the official said.
The area was later sanitized to rule out the presence of any other explosive material. Further investigation is underway, the official added. (JKNS)
