“Tech-Infused Tourism Policing”: J&K Police, Rashtriya Raksha University Launch Two-Week Workshop at Srinagar DPL

Srinagar, Feb 18 (JKNS): In a move to strengthen tourism security through technological innovation, Jammu & Kashmir Police, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), on Wednesday inaugurated a two-week workshop on Tech-Infused Tourism Policing at the District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar.

As per news agency JKNS, Police, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), organized a two-week workshop on Tech-Infused Tourism Policing at the District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar from 16th to 27th February, 2026.

The workshop aims to enhance the professional capabilities of Police personnel in handling tourism-related security challenges by integrating modern technology, smart surveillance systems, data-driven Policing, and digital response mechanisms into day-to-day Policing functions.

The inaugural session was presided over by SSP Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, who delivered the keynote address.

In his address, SSP Srinagar lauded the collaborative effort and emphasized the growing importance of technology-enabled Policing, particularly in a tourism-centric region like Jammu and Kashmir.

He appreciated the initiative taken jointly by Jammu & Kashmir Police and Rashtriya Raksha University and termed the workshop a progressive step towards building a tech-savvy and citizen-friendly Police force.

He stressed that such training programmes not only enhance operational efficiency but also strengthen public confidence in the police system.

During the ceremony, the Director of Rashtriya Raksha University – J&K Campus, presented a memento to SSP Srinagar as a gesture of appreciation and institutional collaboration.

On the occasion, DySP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, DySP DAR Shri Nazir Ahmad, and other senior police officers were also present.

The workshop aims to cover key areas including cyber awareness in tourism zones, use of surveillance technologies, emergency response systems, digital documentation, tourist assistance mechanisms, and best practices in tourism policing.

Experts and faculty members from Rashtriya Raksha University will conduct interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based training exercises for participating officers.

The initiative reflects Jammu & Kashmir Police’s commitment to modernizing its functioning and ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for tourists .

By integrating technology with traditional policing practices, the Police department aims to create a robust framework for tourism security and service delivery. (JKNS)
