No Sporting Ties With Pakistan Until It Respects India’s Sacrifices: NC Minister Satish Sharma
FacebookTwitterWhatsappTelegram

Jammu, Feb 10 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Minister Satish Sharma on Tuesday asserted that India should completely sever cricketing and sporting ties with Pakistan, stating that engagement cannot continue with a country that repeatedly undermines India’s sovereignty and disrespects the sacrifices of its people.

Talking to reporters outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly complex, as per news agency JKNS Sharma said, the issue goes beyond sports and is linked to national honour and security. “There should be a clear ban. Even taking Pakistan’s name in this context is unnecessary. India is a strong nation and does not need validation through matches with them,” he said, as per news agency JKNS.

The minister said Pakistan has failed to acknowledge the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and has instead continued actions that cause loss of lives. “A country that insults our martyrs and does not value our armed forces cannot be treated as a normal sporting rival,” he remarked.

Sharma pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir has borne the brunt of violence over the years. “We know how many soldiers and civilians from Jammu and Kashmir have laid down their lives. This reality cannot be ignored for the sake of a game,” he said.

He further said that meaningful peace is possible only when there is accountability and respect. “Engagement is possible with those who believe in peace, not with those who inflict pain every day. National dignity must come first,” Sharma added. (JKNS)
