Kundian, Feb 4 (JKNS): World Cancer Day was observed with great commitment and community participation in Kundian village of the Keran sector, where the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles unit organized a comprehensive medical awareness programme for local civilians.

The initiative aimed to educate people about cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of timely medical care, while also addressing other common health concerns.

During the programme, Army doctors and medical staff interacted closely with villagers, spreading awareness about various types of cancer, their symptoms, risk factors, and preventive measures.

Special emphasis was laid on the fact that many serious diseases, including cancer, can be prevented or effectively treated if diagnosed at an early stage. The doctors explained how a healthy lifestyle, regular medical check-ups, and awareness can play a crucial role in saving lives.

A free medical check-up camp was also organized as part of the event, during which a large number of patients were examined.

Medicines were distributed free of cost to those in need, and individual health advice was provided based on medical assessments. Women, elderly citizens, and youth actively participated in the camp and appreciated the Army’s efforts.

The local population expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for conducting such a meaningful initiative in a remote border area.

They acknowledged that programmes like these not only improve health awareness but also strengthen the bond of trust between the Army and civilians.

The Indian Army, through Rashtriya Rifles, continues to play a positive role in social welfare and healthcare outreach in border areas, reaffirming its commitment to the well-being of the people alongside its duty of safeguarding the nation. (JKNS)
