The memorandum was submitted as an extension of an earlier representation dated 25 August 2025.

The delegation informed the MP that AMU Students’ Union elections have not been conducted for seven years, despite a written assurance by the Vice-Chancellor, describing the delay as a denial of democratic representation.

The memorandum also highlighted the alleged encroachment of AMU land by Aligarh Nagar Nigam, concerns over false legal cases against protesting students, and frequent police intervention on campus, which students said has negatively affected academic freedom and campus autonomy.

Students further raised the issue of delayed faculty appointments, the non-implementation of the approved PG Kashmiri course, and the pending recruitment for a UGC-approved Kashmiri faculty position.

The delegation also appealed for urgent intervention to ensure the safety and security of J&K students nationwide.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zubair Reshi expressed hope that the Hon’ble MP would raise these issues at appropriate parliamentary and ministerial forums and help facilitate constructive dialogue between authorities and students. (JKNS)
