The incident has left the family devastated, while colleagues, well-wishers and members of the community have expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved family.

Family members made an urgent appeal to the Jammu and Kashmir Administration, particularly the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, seeking immediate assistance for the safe and early transportation of the mortal remains to Kulgam so that last rites could be performed with dignity and as per religious traditions.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also reacted strongly to the incident.

In a post on X, she termed the incident “inhumane and shameful,” alleging that the family was made to run from pillar to post and that the body was shifted in a load carrier instead of an ambulance.

She urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and ensure that the deceased is brought back home respectfully for last rites. (JKNS)
