J&K to Observe Two-Minute Silence on Jan 30 Martyrs’ Day

Jammu, Jan 29 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has directed observance of a two-minute silence on January 30, 2026, to commemorate Martyrs’ Day and honour those who sacrificed their lives during India’s freedom struggle.

Ann Office Memorandum issued by the General Administration Department GAD-JK, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, The undersigned is directed to forward herewith a copy of communication No. 2/1/2026-Public dated: 22nd January, 2026, regarding the subject cited above, to all the Administrative Secretaries with the request to participate in the Observance of Silence on (Martyrs’ Day) scheduled on 30th January, 2026 at 11:00 a.m..

Order further reads that, two minutes silence will be observed in presence of worthy Chief Secretary, J&K from the Meeting Hall, 1″, 2nd & 3rd Floor, Civil Secretariat, Jammu.

The officers/officials stationed at Srinagar shall participate from the Meeting Hall, 4th & 5th Floor, Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, it reads.

Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued directions to all States and Union Territories to observe two minutes of silence at 11:00 am on January 30 to honour the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle and ensure the day is marked with due solemnity. —(JKNS)
