Kashmir, Jan 29 (JKNS): Ehsaas Foundation has extended heartfelt congratulations to Team Snow India for winning the Bronze Medal at the prestigious Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championship 2026, held in Colorado, USA one of the world’s most competitive and celebrated snow art events.

The four-member international team Zahoor Kashmiri, Mridul Upadhyay, Suhail Mohmad Khan, and Matt Seeley (USA) created a stunning 16-foot-tall snow sculpture titled “Corn: The Ultimate Domesticator Who is truly in control?” The artwork was meticulously hand-carved from a massive 25-ton, 12-foot block of snow over four intense days, enduring extreme temperatures plunging to –31°C. In line with championship rules, the artists used only hand tools, with no power tools or internal supports allowed.

Inspired by Yuval Noah Harari’s Sapiens, the sculpture reimagines human history with humor and philosophical depth, questioning whether humans domesticated crops—or whether crops, like corn, have subtly shaped human civilization, agriculture, and lifestyles over centuries. The piece captivated judges and visitors alike, sparking reflection, curiosity, and smiles.

Team Snow India shared the podium with Korea (Gold) and Mongolia (Silver), once again placing India among the world’s elite snow sculpting nations. This achievement marks the team’s second consecutive international medal, further strengthening their legacy as South Asia’s first-ever snow sculpting team to win at this global level.

Zahoor Malik, Founder of Ehsaas Foundation, congratulated the team, saying: “Team Snow India’s achievement is a matter of immense pride for the entire nation. Their journey reflects courage, creativity, and an unbreakable commitment to art even in the harshest conditions.

Ehsaas Foundation salutes their spirit and hopes their success inspires greater institutional support for artists from the Himalayas.”

Despite limited sponsorship and financial backing, the team continues to represent India with passion and resilience. They have once again appealed for support from the Government of India and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing the potential of snow art to boost winter tourism, cultural expression, and global recognition for the Indian Himalayas.

Echoing the team’s sentiment, Mridul Upadhyay shared:“Standing among the world’s best snow sculptors, we feel immense gratitude. Every flake of snow here tells a story—of teamwork, passion, and India’s creative spirit.”

Ehsaas Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting art, youth expression, and cultural excellence, stating that achievements like this highlight how talent from the region can shine globally when given opportunity and support. (JKNS)
