Srinagar, Jan 27 (JKNS): Continuous snowfall and poor visibility disrupted air, rail and road services across Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.

They said, at least 25 flights at Srinagar International Airport have been cancelled, while the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remains closed due to fresh snow accumulation between Qazigund and Banihal, authorities said.

A senior official from Srinagar Airport told news agency JKNS that persistent snowfall and adverse weather forced airlines to suspend operations in the interest of passenger safety.

“All IndiGo and Air India flights to and from Srinagar have been cancelled for the day,” he said, adding that cancellations by other airlines have taken the total number of grounded flights to 25.

Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for updates on flight status, rescheduling and alternate arrangements.

Rail services in the Valley have also been affected, with several trains cancelled due to weather-related disruptions, officials added.

Authorities also urged travellers to avoid unnecessary movement, confirm the status of flights and trains, and refrain from travelling on NH-44 until it is completely restored and declared safe.

Commuters are advised to rely on official sources for road updates.—(JKNS)
