Karnah, January 2026: (JKNS) Following the recent fire incident at Kandi village in Karnah, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the civil administration and Fire & Emergency Services, organised a comprehensive Fire Awareness Programme at Karnah to strengthen community preparedness and reduce the risk of future fire-related incidents.

The programme featured a fire awareness rally, live demonstrations by Fire & Emergency Services personnel, and informative lectures on fire prevention and safety measures. Special emphasis was laid on educating local residents about preventive practices, early response mechanisms, and safe handling of fire, particularly during the winter season when fire hazards tend to increase.

The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from the local community and was attended by the Tehsildar, Karnah, and the Block Development Officer (BDO), Karnah, representing the civil administration. Their presence highlighted the significance of close civil–military coordination in safeguarding public safety and promoting community welfare.

This awareness drive followed the Indian Army’s swift response to the Kandi village fire incident, during which joint firefighting operations and humanitarian assistance were carried out under Project Sadbhavana. The programme reflects the Army’s continued commitment to community outreach, preparedness and resilience building.

The Indian Army reaffirmed its resolve to work in close coordination with the civil administration and local agencies to enhance safety awareness and ensure the well-being of the people of the region.(JKNS)
