J&K Police arrested 03 drug peddlers in South Kashmir; Contraband substances recovered

Srinagar, Jan 19 (JKNS): As part of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

As per news agency JKNS, In Shopian, during routine naka checking by police party of Police Post Wachi at Naghard Babpora, intercepted a vehicle (Swift car bearing registration No. JK13J-3347) with two persons onboard.

They have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Koka & Inayat Ahmad Lone, both residents of Melhura Zainapora. During search, Herion-like substance weighing approximately 58 grams were recovered from their possession. The vehicle used in commission of the crime was also seized.

Meanwhile in Pulwama, a police party from Police Station Litter, intercepted a suspicious person at Nikloora, Pulwama identified as Abdul Rashid Sheikh son of Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh resident of Nikloora, Pulwama. During search, one Charas Patri weighing 7.545 kg and Charas powder weighing 450 grams were recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, cases under relevant provisions of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

J&K Police reiterate its commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and appeals the general public to cooperate in this noble mission. (JKNS)
