A total of 26 sanctions of boat timber were distributed among fishermen during the event. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to MLA Sopore and the concerned officials, stating that the support would significantly help in improving their livelihoods. The fishermen’s community had been awaiting this assistance since 2014.

Officials informed that similar initiatives were undertaken earlier as well, with 36 sanctions distributed last year at Watlab Ghat and 25 sanctions in Sopore. They assured continued support to the fishing community in the future.

The fishermen also thanked MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar, DFO Zangli Noor-ul-Amin, and other Forest Department officials for addressing their long-standing demand and extending timely assistance. (JKNS)
