Kashmir Reports 12 Fire Incidents Reported in 24 Hours; Homes, Cowsheds, Forests Affected

Srinagar, Jan 10 (JKNS): Kashmir witnessed a surge in fire-related incidents over the past 24 hours, with at least 12 fires reported across multiple districts, causing damage to residential houses, cowsheds, forest areas and public infrastructure.

Officials from Fire and Emergency Services Kashmir Range as per news agency JKNS said that, prompt and coordinated action by fire service personnel helped control the blazes in time, preventing further damage and loss of life.

In Kupwara district, a double-storey residential house was damaged in Mukam Shah Wali, Drugmulla, while a forest fire was reported from Shehlal area. In Anantnag, a cowshed was damaged in Magam, Srigufwara, and a double-storey residential house along with a cowshed suffered damage in Kawarri Gam. Another incident involved an electric transformer catching fire in Bagwani area of Sallar.

Budgam district reported damage to a single-storey cowshed in Char-e-Sharief, while in Ganderbal, a double-storey cowshed was damaged in Rangil. In Srinagar, a forest fire broke out near Makhdoom Sahib, Hariparbat, and another fire incident was reported from Chotta Bazar near a marriage hall, where a room in a four-storey building caught fire. However, timely intervention confined the fire to a single room, saving the rest of the structure.

Pulwama district reported damage to a GCI sheeted shed in Bongam, Tral, while in Kulgam, a single-storey residential house and a cowshed were damaged in Yaripora. Another cowshed was damaged in Hardboni area of Kunzer, Sopore.

Fire and Emergency Services officials said their teams remain on high alert across the Valley and urged people to strictly follow fire safety norms, especially during the winter season. Citizens have been advised to immediately report any fire incident to the nearest fire station or control room to ensure swift response. (JKNS)
