Budgam Police Arrests Drug Peddlers; Vehicle Seized

Budgam, Jan 10 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Budgam Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances in the Ompora area of the district.

In a statement as per news agency JKNS police spokesperson said, A police party from Police Station Budgam, led by ASI Abdul Rashid, established a checkpoint near the Ompora Railway Flyover. During routine checking, a Santro vehicle bearing registration number JK01J-4450 was intercepted. The vehicle was driven by Bilal Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Majeed Khan, resident of Bathar Budgam, with Irshad Ahmad Kuchay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Kuchay, resident of Munipappy Budgam, as a co-passenger.

During the search, Heroin-like and Charas-like substances were recovered from their possession. Both accused were arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 8/20, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam, and further investigation is underway.

Budgam Police reiterate their commitment to eliminating drug abuse from society and urge the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling and trafficking. (JKNS)
