BSF Organises Free Medical and Veterinary Camp in Kupwara

Karnah, Jan 10 (JKNS): The 166th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) today organised a free medical and veterinary camp under its Civic Action Programme at FDL Meelyal village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, aimed at providing quality healthcare and free medicines to the poor and needy residents of the area.

The camp was inaugurated by Commandant, 166th Battalion BSF, Shri Harvinder Singh, along with Second-in-Command Shri Rahul, Second-in-Command Shri Jaipal Singh, and other officers of the battalion.

 

A team of specialist BSF and civil doctors examined and treated over 200 patients, including men, women, and children. Besides, more than 20 animals were medically examined and provided free veterinary medicines.

 

The civil medical team included Dr Roud, Dr Imtiyaz, and Dr Zufa Iqbal, Medical Officers from GMC Handwara, along with Dr Ubair Ashraf, Mobile Veterinary Officer, and Dr Ashiq, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon. BSF doctors Dr Karan Singh and Dr Shrepana also attended the medical camp and rendered their services.

 

Residents from Meelyal and adjoining villages appreciated the BSF for organising medical and veterinary services in such a remote area and appealed for more such camps in the future.

 

Addressing the gathering, Commandant Harvinder Singh said the BSF has always stood for peace, prosperity, and development of the region. He added that the objective of such civic action programmes is to strengthen bonds with local communities and provide assistance during difficult times. He further said that the 166th BSF Battalion regularly conducts community outreach initiatives and will continue organising similar programmes in the future for the welfare of the local population.
