Kupwara, Jan 6 (JKNS): Security forces on Tuesday busted a terrorist hideout during a joint operation in the forest area of North Lolab in Kupwara district, dealing a significant blow to the logistical network of terror outfits operating in the area.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of a concealed hideout, a joint search operation was launched by teams of the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During the search operation in the dense forest area, the joint team detected and dismantled the hideout. A sizeable cache of arms, ammunition and other materials meant for sustenance was recovered from the site.
The recovered items included 34 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 18 rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, one Chinese pistol magazine and five hand grenades.
Besides arms and ammunition, the forces also seized administrative and survival material including a gas stove, combat pouches, tarpaulin sheets, foam bedding, cooking utensils, a “housewife kit”, medicines and food items such as atta, noodles and biscuits, indicating that the hideout was being used as a transit or long-term shelter by terrorists.
Officials said the recovery highlights the continued vigilance of security forces and their efforts to neutralize terrorist infrastructure in the area.
The operation has disrupted the operational capabilities of terrorist elements active in the North Lolab sector. (JKNS)
