Two Terror Associates Nabbed With Weapons, Grenades and ₹8.40 Lakh Cash in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Jan 1 (JKNS): In a significant counter-terror operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two terror associates and recovered arms, ammunition, grenades and cash worth ₹8.40 lakh during a late-night naka checking in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.

A senior police officer told news agency JKNS that a joint team of Police Station Ganderbal and Special Operations Group (SOG) intercepted a load carrier vehicle bearing registration number JK15B-7309 near Gundrehman Bridge following specific intelligence inputs.

He said that during a detailed search of the vehicle, the police recovered one Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, four live rounds, two hand grenades and cash amounting to ₹8,40,500.

The arrested individuals were identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir, son of Mohammad Subhan Mir of Hajin, Bandipora, and Shabnum Nazir, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Ganie of Shalabugh, Ganderbal.

The officer further said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act at Police Station Ganderbal. “Further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the recovered arms, ammunition and cash and to establish their terror linkages,” he added.

Police reiterated their resolve to maintain peace and security in the district and urged the public to remain vigilant and share any information related to anti-national activities. (JKNS)
