Sopore, Dec 21 (JKNS): In view of the approaching winter season, the Jal Shakti Department (PHE) has established a Winter Preparedness Control Room at the divisional level in Sopore to ensure uninterrupted water supply and prompt response to public grievances during the harsh winter months.
According to an order issued by the Executive Engineer, PHE Division Sopore as per news agency JKNS, the control room has been set up with immediate effect to strengthen coordination, monitoring and emergency response mechanisms. The general public can contact the control room on 9906841105 for any assistance related to water supply.
As per the order, several officers and officials have been designated with their respective contact numbers to handle winter-related exigencies across different sub-divisions, including Sopore, Watlab (Zaingeer) and Sumbal. For overall coordination, Er. Marzia Fatima, Technical Officer, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer for PHE Division Sopore.
The control room will function round-the-clock and will be responsible for monitoring water supply schemes, receiving and promptly responding to public complaints, coordinating with higher and district authorities, and ensuring timely submission of daily water supply status reports.
Officials said the initiative aims to ensure effective winter preparedness and minimize inconvenience to the public during the freezing winter conditions. (JKNS)
