Srinagar, Dec 20 (JKNS): Anticipating rain and snowfall in the coming days, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gulmarg has ordered traffic restrictions on the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road to ensure public safety.
According to an official weather advisory issued by the SDM as per news agency JKNS, the movement of heavy vehicles and vehicles not fitted with anti-skid chains has been prohibited on the Tangmarg–Gulmarg stretch and vice versa during adverse weather conditions.
The restrictions will take effect from the beginning of rainfall or snowfall and will remain in place until further directions.
The administration has appealed to commuters and vehicle owners to strictly adhere to the advisory, warning that slippery road conditions could lead to accidents and inconvenience if precautions are ignored.
Any violation of the order, officials said, will be dealt with firmly.
To ensure effective implementation, the Tehsildar Tangmarg along with the Station House Officers of Police Stations Tangmarg and Gulmarg have been instructed to enforce the restrictions strictly on the ground.
The move aims to prevent mishaps and ensure smooth traffic regulation in the Gulmarg tourist area amid the forecast of inclement weather. — (JKNS)
