Srinagar, Dec 19 (JKNS): Cold conditions continued across Jammu and Kashmir, with several areas of the Kashmir Valley recording sub-zero minimum temperatures, while the Jammu region witnessed comparatively milder weather.

According to data compiled by independent weather forecaster Kashmir Weather, as per news agency JKNS, in the Kashmir region, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -2.1°C, while Srinagar Airport dipped further to -3.4°C. Pampore and Shopian recorded -3.5°C each, Baramulla was the coldest at -3.6°C, and Pulwama registered -4.0°C.

Other places including Kupwara (-2.8°C), Anantnag (-2.8°C), Awantipora (-2.6°C), Budgam (-2.4°C), and Bandipora (-2.8°C) also remained below the freezing point. Pahalgam recorded -2.6°C, while Gulmarg stood at 1.0°C. Kokernag recorded 0.5°C, Kulgam 0.9°C, Ganderbal -0.5°C, and Sonamarg 0.1°C. Zojila Pass data was unavailable, while the Zethan Rafiabad station was reported as not functional.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded a minimum temperature of 9.9°C, while Jammu Airport registered 11.1°C. Banihal recorded 3.5°C, Batote 6.7°C, Katra 9.2°C, Bhaderwah 2.3°C, and Kathua 8.8°C. Other areas included Udhampur at 4.2°C, Ramban 5.8°C, Samba 5.4°C, Rajouri 2.4°C, Kishtwar 6.1°C, Reasi 7.8°C, and Doda 6.7°C.

In the Ladakh region, Leh recorded a low of -4.6°C, Kargil -4.0°C, and Nubra Valley -2.6°C.

The weatherman has predicted rain and snowfall from the evening of December 20 till December 23, with moderate to heavy snowfall in higher reaches, while moderate rain has been predicted in the plains. (JKNS)
