Ganderbal Police Crack Drone Violation Case; Two Accused Chargesheeted

Ganderbal, Dec 8 (JKNS): In a significant security achievement, Ganderbal Police has solved the sensitive drone-breach case reported during the Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025, leading to the identification and chargesheeting of two accused individuals.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Jammu and Kashmir Police at Ganderbal achieved a major breakthrough in a sensitive security case related to the violation of No Flying Zone restrictions imposed during the Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.
A drone, illegally operated over the notified restricted area, was brought down by security forces using soft-kill methods to avert any potential threat to the Yatra.

As per the MHA Guidelines, the entire Yatra corridor was strictly designated as a No Drone Zone, prohibiting any unmanned aerial vehicle activity to ensure foolproof security of the pilgrims and peaceful culmination of the yatra.

Following the incident, FIR No. 26/2025, U/S 223 BNS was registered at Police Station Gund, and investigation was taken up. Furthermore, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, a team of technical experts conducted a detailed forensic examination of the seized drone to retrieve operational data and identify the operators involved in using the drone over no fly zone, it reads.

Based on the FSL report, Ganderbal Police was successful in identification of the accused individuals namely; Owais Muneer Khan, S/O Muneer Ahmad Khan, R/O Sanat Nagar, Srinagar and Farooz Ahmad Nengroo, S/O Abdul Rashid Nengroo, R/O Munwar-Abad, Khanyar, Srinagar who were responsible for flying the drone without any permission in the restricted zone.

Both the accused have been apprehended and produced before the Hon’ble Court and charge-sheeted in the case.

This swift and professional action by Ganderbal Police underscores the heightened vigilance maintained during the Amarnath Ji Yatra2025 and the unwavering commitment of security forces to ensure that no Anti-National Elements exploit any lapse to disrupt the pilgrimage, it reads.
