Srinagar, Dec 7 (JKNS): A major fire erupted on Saturday evening in the Munawarabad area of Srinagar, engulfing several wooden and timber shops , houses and sending thick plumes of smoke across the locality.
Officials told JKNS that three to four timber establishments and some houses caught fire, prompting an immediate response from Fire & Emergency Services.
Fire tenders, assisted by local police, are on the ground carrying out a vigorous operation to douse the flames and stop the fire from spreading further. Eyewitnesses said the blaze intensified quickly due to the wooden structures, causing panic among passersby and shop owners.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown and is being investigated, an official added.
