The initiative aimed to honour terror-affected individuals who have sustained permanent disabilities due to past incidents of terrorism, and to provide them a platform to share their experiences, concerns, and needs.

The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Anika Nazir, who underscored the urgent need for consistent institutional and societal support for women who have been disabled as a result of terrorism.

During the event, terror-affected individuals living with disabilities narrated their personal journeys, shedding light on the deep impact of terrorism on their families, livelihoods, and physical and emotional well-being. Their interaction highlighted ongoing challenges related to rehabilitation, healthcare access, and sustainable employment.

ADC Kupwara, Mr. Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, commended the Foundation for its efforts and paid tribute to the resilience and courage of the affected individuals who continue to persevere despite life-altering disabilities. He emphasized the importance of strong community support, timely healthcare, and robust institutional mechanisms to ensure dignified living conditions for them.

A medical camp, organised by the District Administration, provided essential health services to the participants, reflecting the administration’s commitment to proactive care and support for vulnerable groups.

Foundation Chairman Mr. Wajahat Farooq Bhat reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to empowering terror victims and highlighted the shared responsibility of society and institutions in safeguarding their dignity and well-being. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, for his leadership, support, and commitment to ensuring justice and hope for families affected by terrorism.

The Foundation extended its sincere appreciation to the District Administration Kupwara and all partners whose cooperation contributed to the successful conduct of NOOR-E-WUJOOD. (JKNS)
