Srinagar, Nov 25 (JKNS): The Jammu & Kashmir School Education Department on Tuesday issued the formal winter vacation schedule for all government and recognised private schools up to the Higher Secondary level across Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division.
According to Government Order No. 665-JK (Edu) of 2025, dated November 25 as per news agency JKNS, the winter break will be observed as per the following calendar:
For Pre-Primary (Balvatika) classes, the vacation will begin from November 26, 2025, and continue till February 28, 2026. For Classes 1 to 8, the winter break shall commence from December 1, 2025, up to February 28, 2026. For Classes 9 to 12, the vacation will be observed from December 11, 2025, till February 22, 2026.
The order further directs that all teaching staff must remain available for any academic assignment during the vacation. Teachers have been instructed to report back to their respective institutions on February 20, 2026, to make necessary arrangements for reopening.
The government has warned that any violation of the notified schedule by school heads or teaching staff will invite strict action under rules. (JKNS)
