Speaking to media persons in Budgam Naseer as per news agency JKNS said, “All modernization coming to schools is beneficial for students. It provides them a platform to explore their talents freely. Modernization is a very positive development for our education system.”

On the availability of textbooks, he added, “As you may have seen, JKBOSE has already notified the schedule and books are available. I believe within a few days, books will reach all schools. According to the schedule, distribution started on November 17, and very soon, every school will receive textbooks.”

Responding to concerns over private schools allegedly violating textbook norms, with action taken against only eight schools, Wani stated, “As Education Minister Sakina Itoo has already said, the aim of both private and government schools is to provide correct education to our children, and books should be available at the right price. Reports occasionally emerge claiming private schools are charging unfairly, and wherever complaints arise, our action is ongoing and will continue. Our message is clear: whether private or government, the goal is to ensure proper education for students, and everything must be affordable. Private schools must follow the NCERT-prescribed books and cannot act arbitrarily. Any deviation beyond this will be done only with government approval, not at the school’s discretion.”

On complaints regarding admission fees collected by private schools, Wani said, “Fee fixation is not arbitrary. The Fee Fixation Regulatory Committee (FFRC) has been established specifically to regulate fees. Any parent facing issues regarding fees should contact the FFRC. The committee has already issued clear orders. If any complaint is received in our office, we also take appropriate action.” (JKNS)
