Srinagar, Nov 23 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday chaired a high-level security meeting in Jammu to assess the overall security situation in the Union Territory following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10.

Senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and central security and intelligence agencies attended the meeting, official sources told news agency JKNS.

The Lieutenant Governor reviewed the current scenario along the Line of Control, winter preparedness, law and order, and ongoing kinetic and non-kinetic counter-terror operations in the region.

“In view of the recent ‘white-collar’ module bust, involving doctors, and the deadly blast in Delhi, security agencies provided detailed briefings on the overall security situation,” sources said.

The meeting also took into account recent district-level review sessions conducted by Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Nalin Prabhat, aimed at strengthening counter-terror operations, intelligence mechanisms, and community policing. Special emphasis was placed on improving deployment patterns, response times, and coordination in sensitive areas.

Earlier, Sinha chaired a security review with police and civil administration last Saturday following the accidental blast at Nowgam police station, which killed nine people and injured 32 others.

Since the Red Fort blast on November 10, which killed at least 15 people and injured many, security measures across Jammu and Kashmir have been heightened. Frisking, regular patrolling, and deployment of personnel at strategic locations, including Srinagar-Jammu highway points like Pulwama and the Qazigund gateway, have been intensified.

Police have also enhanced inspections of shops and establishments dealing with chemicals, fertilisers, explosives, hardware, and automobile workshops across the Union Territory.

The blast came hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police and Faridabad police busted a doctors’ module and recovered 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate along with arms and ammunition. Six persons Dr Muzamil, Dr Shaheen, Dr Adil, Molvi Irfan, Amir Ali, and Jasir Bilal have been arrested in connection with the case.

The NIA has stated that all arrested individuals played key roles in the terror attack. Amir Rashid Ali was identified as the car owner used in the blast, while Jasir Bilal Wani, alias Danish, provided technical support to the suicide bomber.

The investigation was handed over to the NIA by the Home Ministry soon after the attack. The Anti-Terror agency is working closely with state police forces to apprehend all members of the terrorist module responsible for the carnage. (JKNS
