RTO Kashmir Bans e-Rickshaws on M.A. Road & Residency Road to Decongest City Centre

Srinagar, Nov 20 (JKNS): The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir has imposed fresh traffic restrictions in Srinagar by declaring two key stretches of the city as No e-Rickshaw Zones, citing persistent congestion and obstruction to smooth vehicular flow.

As per an order issued by Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Qazi Irfan (KAS) as per news agency JKNS, following the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting held on November 13, the movement of e-rickshaws has been completely barred on Moulana Azad Road (Jehangir Chowk to J&K Bank HQ) and Residency Road (Hari Singh High Street to J&K Bank HQ) with immediate effect.

The order states that uncontrolled e-rickshaw operations were causing frequent traffic bottlenecks in the commercial corridor. Authorities have warned that any violation of the restrictions will be dealt with strictly under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.(JKNS)
