Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNC): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the perpetrators of the Delhi blast should receive the toughest possible punishment, while stressing that innocent people must not be subjected to suspicion.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the injured of the Nowgam blast, the Chief Minister as per news agency JKNS said that he had raised the issue during the Northern Zonal Council meeting, emphasising that Muslims should not be unfairly profiled.

“Those involved in the Delhi blast must be identified and dealt with sternly. But innocent people, who have consistently spoken against violence, should not be targeted or viewed with doubt,” he said.

Responding to a question, Omar Abdullah said that compensation has been provided through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He added that since the incident occurred within a police station, the Home Department should also extend support to the affected families.

He further said that job-related compensation will also be ensured for the victims. “I will instruct the concerned officers to complete all formalities so that employment assistance is provided to the bereaved family,” he said. (JKNS)
