Leh, Nov 13 (JKNS): The First Lady of Ladakh, Smt. Bindu Gupta, emphasized the significance of inclusive education and empowering children with special needs, underscoring that every child deserves equal access to quality learning opportunities.

She said true progress lies in building an education system that fosters empathy, confidence, and self-reliance among all learners, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Smt. Bindu Gupta was speaking at the inaugural distribution ceremony of the Braille Kit ‘Annie’ held at Chuchot Yokma PM Shri Government High School for students of the Centre for Wellness and Special Abilities (CWSA) from across Leh.

The event, organized by the School Education Department, aimed to promote inclusive education in Ladakh’s unique terrain. The event was attended by Secretary, School Education Department, Smt. Bhanu Prabha; Director, School Education, Smt. Tashi Dolma; school heads, teachers, and students.

Gracing the event as Chief Guest, the First Lady commended the dedication of teachers and staff of CWSA for their tireless efforts in nurturing specially-abled children.

Calling the occasion more than a distribution ceremony, the First Lady said it symbolized the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas,” inspired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision. She also lauded the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, for his commitment to ensuring quality education reaches every child, even in remote areas, adding that Ladakh is emerging as a model for educational innovation and social inclusion under his guidance.

Highlighting the importance of the ‘Annie’ Braille kits, she described them as tools of empowerment that enable children to learn with greater confidence and independence. Smt. Bindu Gupta also applauded the children for their inspiring performances that reflected their talent and enthusiasm for learning.

Encouraging students to pursue excellence, she urged them to make the best use of available opportunities and contribute to the progress of society and the nation. She called for collective efforts to build a society where every child moves forward with dignity and equal opportunity.

Administrative Secretary, Smt. Bhanu Prabha, highlighted that 622 differently-abled students have been identified across Ladakh and announced upcoming hostel facilities, special care classes, and dedicated caretakers for them.

Earlier, Director of School Education, Smt. Tashi Dolma, welcomed the dignitaries and informed that 44 specially-abled students are currently enrolled under CWSA.
The event concluded with cultural performances and the distribution of Braille Kits among students, NGOs, and schools. (JKNS)
