Quoting Delhi Police, news wire ANI reported as per news agency JKNS that the DNA test has confirmed the identity of the man who carried out the blast near Red Fort as Dr Umar Un Nabi.

His DNA sample matched with that of his mother, conclusively establishing his identity.

According to Delhi Police, after the explosion, Umar’s leg was found trapped between the steering wheel and the accelerator of the car, making identification difficult at the scene. The remains were later sent for forensic examination, where a detailed DNA profiling was conducted.

Blast occurred near Delhi’s Red Fort area on Monday on 7pm, triggering panic in the vicinity and prompting a high-level investigation by multiple agencies.

Security forces had immediately cordoned off the area, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) joined the probe to determine possible links behind the incident.

Dr. Umar-un-Nabi hailed from the Koil village in Lethpora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The confirmation of Umar’s identity marks a major breakthrough in the case. Further investigations are underway, officials maintained. (JKNS)
