Srinagar, Nov 12 (JKNS): Authorities on Wednesday ordered the attachment of the residential house of Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom at Bulbul Bagh, Barzulla, in connection with a 2009 case linked to an anti-India seminar held in Srinagar.

As per on order issued by DGP J&K as per news agency JKNS, Shaheed Gunj Police had received specific information on December 31, 2009, regarding a seminar organised at Hotel Jahangir on the death anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The event, headed by Muslim League’s vice-chairman Feroz Ahmad Khan, was attended by several separatist leaders, including Aasia Andrabi, Shabir Ahmad Najar and Mian Abdul Qayoom, who allegedly delivered anti-national speeches and raised slogans during the gathering.

Officials said the investigation later confirmed through witness statements that inflammatory remarks were made at the seminar, provoking participants against the integrity of the country and advocating secession of Jammu & Kashmir.

During further investigation, police conducted a house search of Mian Qayoom after securing a court warrant. The search, carried out in the presence of independent witnesses and an Executive Magistrate, led to the recovery of banned literature, a Hizbul Mujahideen letterhead with seal impression, a press-note-type document, a letter by Syed Salahuddin addressed to former US President Bill Clinton, and a Hizbul Mujahideen seal in Urdu.

Investigators concluded that the two-storey residential house and adjoining land measuring over two kanals had been used for concealing incriminating material and furthering unlawful activities.

The property, registered under mutation No. 338 in Qayoom’s name, has been categorised as “proceeds of terrorism” and brought under attachment in the 2009 Shaheed Gunj case. (JKNS)
