Woman Held with 421 Grams of Charas During Naka Checking in Awantipora

Awantipora, Nov 9 (JKNS): A naka checking operation at Padgampora led to the arrest of a woman from Srinagar after police recovered 421 grams of charas from her possession, officials said.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS police Spokesperson said, Police Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora during naka checking at Padgampora noticed a lady moving suspiciously from Padgampora towards Awantipora.

On seeing the police party, she tried to flee from the spot but was tactfully apprehended, it reads.

Statement further reads that, On questioning, the lady disclosed her identity as Rubeena W/o Ashiq Ahmad Sheikh R/o Zahidpora Hawal, near Halwai Masjid, Srinagar.

Upon her personal search, ten sticks of charas-like substance weighing 421 grams were recovered from her possession, it reads.

The recovered contraband was seized on the spot under proper seizure memo, and the accused has been arrested, it reads.

In this regard, Case FIR No. 245/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation has been set into motion, the statement reads. (JKNS)
