New Delhi, Nov 4 (JKNS): The Government of India has formally announced the establishment of the Eighth Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) to review the pay structure, allowances, and service benefits of Central Government employees, defence personnel, and related categories.

The newly formed Commission will be chaired by Justice (Retd.) Ranjana Prakash Desai, with Prof. Pulak Ghosh appointed as Part-Time Member and Shri Pankaj Jain as Member-Secretary. Apart from revising the pay matrix, the 8th CPC will assess existing schemes of bonus and performance-based incentives, review the admissibility of various allowances, and examine retirement-related benefits under both contributory and non-contributory pension systems.

The Commission, based in New Delhi, has been given 18 months to submit its final report, with the option to issue interim recommendations if necessary. Its findings are expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of government pay and pension reforms. (JKNS)
