J&K Govt Orders Annual Darbar Move from Srinagar to Jammu; Offices to Open in Jammu on Nov 3

Srinagar, Oct 16 (JKNS): The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday issued a formal order for the annual Darbar Move, directing the shifting of offices from Srinagar to Jammu for the upcoming winter season 2025–26.

According to Government Order No. 1357-JK(GAD) of 2025, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) as per news agency JKNS, all offices observing a five-day week will close in Srinagar on October 31, while those observing a six-day week will close on November 1. All offices are scheduled to reopen in Jammu on November 3 (Monday).

As per the order, offices listed in Annexure A will move to Jammu in full, while those listed in Annexure B will move in camp mode with 33% staff or a minimum of 10 officials.

The Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) has been directed to provide adequate buses for employee transportation on November 1 and 2, including cranes, empty buses, and mobile workshops to assist the convoys. J&K Police will provide full escort and ensure smooth passage through the Banihal-Qazigund and Syama Prasad Mookerjee tunnels.

The Health and Medical Education Department has been instructed to set up medical aid camps at Qazigund, Banihal, Ramsu, Ramban, Chenani, Udhampur, and Jhajjar Kotli.

Special Move TA of ₹25,000 per employee will be granted, while advance pay will be authorized for non-gazetted employees on request. The salary for October 2025 will be drawn on October 31.

The GAD will also establish a Winter Secretariat at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to ensure administrative continuity.

The order emphasizes that employees may retain their Srinagar accommodations for family use but must not occupy government quarters in Jammu without official allotment. (JKNS)
Holiday for Urs Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Sahib Rescheduled to October 20

Srinagar, Oct 16 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday rescheduled the provincial holiday on account of Urs Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) for the Kashmir Division.

As per Government Order No. 1358-JK(GAD) of 2025, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) as per news agency JKNS, and in partial modification of Order No. 2193-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated December 29, 2024, the holiday will now be observed on October 20 (Monday) instead of October 18 (Saturday).

The decision was taken with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor, the order added. (JKNS)
