KISHTWAR: The Department of Horticulture District Kishtwar today sent a group of 47 farmers on a 5-day exposure visit-training program to the Kashmir Valley.
The tour, organised under the CSS-MIDH/ATMA scheme for the year 2025-26, was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma from the Mini Secretariat Complex, in the presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Sajid Mustafa.
During the visit, the farmers would visit SKUAST-K Shalimar Srinagar, Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture Srinagar and the Centre of Excellence Zawoora where they shall also interact with local farmers.
The exposure visit-cum-training aims to impart practical knowledge and training to farmers in modern horticultural practices being adopted and implemented at these premier institutions.
The initiative seeks to upgrade farmers’ skills and knowledge, enabling them to implement the latest techniques in their orchards to enhance production and productivity in District Kishtwar.
The major focus of the exposure visit/training would be on Ultra High-Density (UHD) Plantation and nursery raising which are vital for transforming horticulture practices in the district.
