EduWeave Foundation, DSEK Hold Strategic Meet to Strengthen Foundational Learning in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 15 (JKNS): The EduWeave Foundation, in partnership with the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), jointly organized a two-day Strategic Consultation Meeting on Need Assessment study of Srinagar schools under the District Transformation Project at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh, Srinagar, on October 10-11, 2025.

The consultation brought together senior education officials, school leaders, teachers, experts from SCERT, DIET Srinagar and civil society organizations to discuss and validate the findings of a comprehensive Need Assessment Study aimed at strengthening foundational literacy, numeracy, and Early childhood Care and Education within district schools.

Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Joint Director Elementary Education Kashmir, emphasized the significance of evidence-based planning and the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving meaningful improvements in education outcomes.

Mr. Syed Shabir, Joint Director Central Kashmir, stated, “Our collective efforts and shared commitment are essential to transform the educational landscape and ensure inclusive, quality education for all children in Srinagar.”

Throughout the consultation, participants engaged in rich discussions to collectively identify priorities and create a unified strategic roadmap for enhancing school leadership, teacher capacity, community engagement, and inclusive education.

Ms. Amita Kaushik, Director of EduWeave Foundation, highlighted the shared commitment among all stakeholders to work collaboratively for the sustainable transformation of education in Srinagar.

The meeting concluded with remarks from the Joint Director South and Secondary Education, Mr. Kishore Lal. who extended his appreciation to the EduWeave Foundation for conducting the Need Assessment Study and facilitating this valuable platform. He acknowledged the consultation as a meaningful opportunity for educational leaders and stakeholders to validate insights, prioritize needs, and collaboratively develop actionable strategies to strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) across district schools.The event concluded with a mutual agreement among all partners, including DSEK, SCERT, DIET,civil society organizations and EduWeave Foundation, to move forward with joint efforts aligned with national education policies and frameworks.
