Leh, Oct 9 (JKNS): The District Magistrate of Leh, Romil Singh Donk, has issued a strict order banning the circulation of fake news, rumours, and misinformation on social media platforms in the district.
As per the order issued by the District Administration as pee news agency JKNS, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, all social media users are directed not to share, forward, or post unverified content. Administrators of WhatsApp, Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, Telegram, and YouTube groups have been instructed to monitor content, remove misleading posts, and enable “Admin Only” controls where needed.
The order states that anyone found violating the directive will face strict legal action under relevant laws. It will remain effective for two months from October 9, 2025, or until further orders.
Authorities said the move aims to ensure public safety and maintain law and order in Leh district. (JKNS
